If you’ll be in Linz this week, I’ve got a new paper, Deep Hysteria: Toward a Constructive Approach to Algorithmic Bias in the Expanded Animation symposium at Ars Electronica on Friday Sept 6th. Unfortunately, I have to attend this one remotely, but I’ll be Zooming in for the presentation and Q&A Friday morning.
Excited about this symposium, as I’ll be presenting in a forum for “art/research” papers — and that art “slash” research is the point of the Deep Hysteria project. I’ll be discussing the project, the research behind it, and how, if we play our cards right, “AI” biases can actually become socially productive. Excited also to discuss examples other researchers have provided that show us some pathways by which this stuff can actually happen.
