Discotrope upcoming shows at Zero1 (San Jose) and ISEA (Albuquerque)

We’ll be performing Discotrope in San Jose at the Zero1 Biennial (e)MERGE Street Festival on Sept. 14th (starting when it gets dark), joined by Frankie Martin (UCSD) and Zaoli Zhong (Syracuse.) Then it’s on to Albuquerque for the ISEA2012 Downtown Block Party on Sept. 23rd, starting also at gettin’-dark-time.

Mayukh Sen at Zero1 has written this article about Discotrope. And Geeta Dayal at Wired has written about us in Wired’s Zero1 Preview. Thanks Mayukh and Geeta!

iotaCenter Los Angeles – Artist-in-Residence

I’ve started my sabbatical residency at the highly-awesome iotaCenter in LA. This fall I’ll be researching new work in gestural and spatial cinematic performance – and also hoping to get involved in organizing some interesting events. First though, getting ready for Discotrope performances in downtown San Jose at Zero1 on Sept. 14th and in downtown Albuquerque at ISEA Machine Wilderness at the Block Party on Sept. 23rd. More details on those to follow!

Discotrope: New demo video and text!

Annina Rüst and I have finished a new demo video for Discotrope. You can see how the project’s come along and get a sneak peak of Cristyn Magnus’s magic generative sound design. And we’ve also written a little text. We’re almost ready to perform now, so if you know someplace that might enjoy some nocturnally solar-powered semi-zoetropically live audiovisual performance, please let us know!

Discotrope: The Secret Nightlife of Solar Cells – Coming Soon!

The wraps are off Discotrope: The Secret Nightlife of Solar Cells! It’s the project that Annina Rüst and I have been working on. We’re still developing the performance, and Cristyn Magnus is composing a generative sound design. But we’ve got a website now, complete with work-in-progress video and stills. More to come!

You can also follow Discotrope on Twitter to get updates as they twappen…

It’s a new website!

Still a few rough spots to tidy, but it’s more or less up. I’m hoping the new site will encourage me to remember to update it with new info now and then. (Wonder if anyone’s written a cattle prod plugin…)
